Julius Sneezer

By Reets and Kay   This story is true. All names are changed to protect the innocent. Any resemblance to persons wanted dead or alive is purely the most.
Juilus Sneezer
  Friends, Kats and Squares,
  Lend me your head flaps;
I have come to plant Sneezer,
  Not to dig him.
  When men have goofed,
  The jinx stays on;
  The good is often stashed
  In their framework.
  So let the cube follow
  The prepared pattern.
The hepped-up Brutus gassed off that Sneezer was the most. If this was the case man, he really goofed. Frantically Sneezer slipped us the info on this deal. He was always needled by Brutus and the gang.
For Brutus is an honorable kat.
So are they all are honorable kats.
Get hep, I speak in Sneezer's funeral.
He was my friend always on my back.
(I don't like kats on my back)!
But Brutus gassed that he was a real nervous kat.
And man, Brutus isn't one to disagree with.
He hath brought many cubes home to Rome.
The General hath fished many a green back for those squares.
Did this make the old kat more frantic?
My ticker is stashed in that cheese-box with Sneezer! Help! Let me out!
      Finis.

Couple Of The Month

For this month's "Couple of the Month" we have Carol Rizzo and Pete Maurizio.
Both are freshmen. Carol has the commercial course and plans to be a secretary. Pete has the college course and is undecided as what to do in the future.
Both like dancing. One of Pete's favorite past times is playing basketball. They also attend the movies regularly.
Carol's homeroom is 109. She likes math and says Mr. Feeley is her favorite teacher.
Pete's homeroom is 111. Pete likes science and ranks Mr. Flori as the best teacher.
"Answer Me, My Love" and "Alone" are the songs that are high on their hit-parade.

Fads And Fashions

Easter Sunday has finally arrived. All the flowers are in bloom; the happy faces of children can be seen as they proudly show each other their colorful Easter baskets.
Coming out of church we see Bill Dusack in a blue suit, white shirt, and blue suede shoes. Then we see Joanne Adams in a blue dress, with all blue accessories, and with her is Mary Jane Barbey also in a blue dress and a navy blue topper.
The first railroad in Greene County was not built until 1877.

Inquiring Reporter

What is your idea of a perfect - teacher?
We asked some WHS students this question and here are their answers:
Pete Maurizio - "A teacher who doesn't give very much homework. If you don't have it done, she doesn't holler."
Nick Ferranti - "A teacher that talks about other things besides the subject."
Mary Ann Shimko - "Must be able to hold your attention in class."
Tony Yankowsky - "Teacher who doesn't give you too much work and gives you a lot of privileges."
Marge Tengeres - "One that doesn't give a lot of homework." "Mim" Lehman,"One that isn't too strict."
Bill Honadle - "A perfect teacher is one who isn't."
Mildred Vislosky - "I think a perfect teacher is one who doesn't have any pets."
John Kotch - "She doesn't give too much work and doesn't holler too much."
Oscar Tantorno - "I don't think there is a perfect teacher."
Priscilla Potts -"Wait till I find one and then I'll tell you."
Peggy McCune - "One that calls you aside to give you heck, and not in front of the class."
Annalee Paul - "My idea of a perfect teacher is one that explains things so that you can understand them, speaks distinctly and doesn't give too much homework."
Eleanor Reed - "A teacher that is strict, but gives you liberties to do things and is very nice."
Joyce Varner - "One that doesn't have pets and doesn't give any homework."

April Fool

April First used to be known only as a day for playing tricks, but in Windber High School that day is rapidly becoming known only as Miss Weaver's birthday.
Students in her Latin classes surprised Miss Weaver with a series of parties this year. Period three presented her with earrings and period seven gave her a bracelet, just to show that they were not fooling.

Meet Your Neighbor

We have looked into the private lives of some of the students of W. H. S. and this is what we have discovered about them:
Joe Totsky is the "Valentine" of the freshman class ... Janice Jurick wants to become an elementary school teacher ... Jerry Kiss's hobby is tying flies ... Robert Clark's nickname is Pie ... Gerald D'Arcanglo's secret ambition is to be a bum ... Ned Harbaugh wants to be a pharmacist ... Jasie Koharchik's hobby is boys
A once great timber supply abounding in Lycoming County has now been all but exhausted.

To the students of W. H. S.

Spring is coming and the students are getting that same old fever. The "brains" just aren't their usual selves. They favor daydreaming to home-work and when report cards come out, some of them will show it. Don't start slacking now, kids; this is the most important time to keep those grades up.
The teachers don't lake to stay in school when spring comes any more than you do, but try to make the best of it. Remember, two more months and then vacation. Let's save the dreams for then.

Be Nonchalant

Three ways to avoid disappointment on a dance floor when you fall down:
1-Just lie there. They'll think you fainted.
2-Get up gracefully. They'll think it was part of the dance.
3-Start mopping the floor with your handkerchief. They'll think you work there.

"Record Rack''

Well, kids, here we are again with some real hep tunes. This month, as usual, there are many more new and popular songs, both jazz and jumpy, and slow and dreamy. To start off a song very popular, and very beautiful is "Here" by Tony Martin. Tony Bennett sings "They'll Be No Teardrops Tonight." Sunny Gale sings a beautiful ballad, "Close To Me." And "Little Things Mean A Lot," by Kitty Kalen. Eddie Fisher, who is always coming up with something new came up with a cute one in Italian style "A Girl, A Girl." The one on the reverse side is a nice ballad. Perry Como, a guy who always has a nice tune going has a nice one "Wanted." Joni James', "You're My Everything" is a good number. For Mike and Mugsy a cute tune, "Make Love To Me" by Jo Stafford. Roy Hamilton's two songs "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Cry Over You" are still pretty popular, too. For Barb Johanning and Ronnie we listen to a nice thing by Rose M. Bella "This Is Why I Love You." Eartha Kitt's still singing out with "Somebody Bad Stole de Wedding Bell" and "Loving Spree." Ralph Flannagan's arrangement of "Angela Mea' is a beautiful, popular ballad. The Crows singing "Gee" its also popular and a favorite of most kids around town.   Now for a few cool jump numbers "Darktown Strutters Ball" and "Wild Irish Rose." "Cherokee" by Earl Bostee are real hep. Doris Day's "Secret Love" is still riding. Frankie Laine's "Kids Last Fight" and "Long Distance Love" are getting pretty popular, too. Some older songs, but still Okay are "Before It's Too Late" and "Cross Over the Bridge." A new song, one expected to be very popular is by Kay Starr "If You Love Me, Really Love Me." "Dream, Dream, Dream," by Joni James is also expected to be very popular, too. Jimmy Saca and the Hilltoppers have a new release, "I'm Lost In A Dream."

To Whom It Mav Concern

You are invited to a birthday party, at Christmas, on July 4th. We will meet in the park on the upper floor of the school. When you arrive, put your coat on the hat hook and your hat on the coat hangers. Then go into room 216, on the upper floor, near the girl's gym. When you get into the room pull up a chair and sit on the floor. Coffee will be served when the tea is ready and the second course will consist of frog's legs, spaghetti, potatoes, and the drink will be cherry pop. Please wear gowns since, this is a very in¬formal party. When you want to go home, just ring the door bell and walk out, but don't forget to wipe your feet on the mat first.
