Meet The Football Managers
Joe Sendek is now going into his third year as football manager. Joe likes it very much as it gives him something to do, and he also gets to help the football players. He thinks the team shows much promise this year, and will go a long way.
Stanley Kush, Windber's little "Abaduba," smallest of the managers, could always be seen in the attending all the big games, he kitchen while at camp. Besides goes to all the junior high and the B teams games. He also predicts that this will be an undefeated season.
Jim Novak, "Goose," is the intelligent one of the managers. He is assistant trainer to Mr. Atty, and he is a pole-vaulter in track.
"Snuffy" Wiargo, head of the W. H. S. managers, is a senior in school. He feels he should make no comment about Wi,ndber's team. And is also keeping his pastimes a secret.
Joe Danko, a junior at Windber High School, is experiencing his first year as football manager. He attended the football camp this year and said the work was hard but the food was good. Besides football manager he is also interested in baseball and basketball.
Hayes Clark, better known as "Bombo," enjoyed camp this year because he got to work with the All Stars. He also enjoyed the good food, and no girls around to bother him. His opinion of the team is that they will go undefeated this year. He is also interested in baseball and basketball.
John Niovich, better known as "Cow," takes his job as football manager very seriously and declares he never fools around like the seniors. Though he was attending football camp he could always be seen with a basketball in his hands.

Windber "B" Wins Over Richland
On Wednesday, September 16, Windber High School's "B" team blasted the Richland "B" team 60 to nothing in Windber Stadium. Richland couldn't stop Windber in passing and running. George Winas, Windber quarterback, passed for two long touchdowns.
The longest run of the game was made by Windber's fullback, Pete Seese; it was a 53-yard dash in the second quarter. Bob Dutzman, Windber varsity's extra point kicker, kicked four extra points from placement. He also ran one.
Richard De Polo scored three touchdowns for Windber and Pete Seese scored two. Admission to the game was free.

Athlete Of The Month
The Windber H.S. sports spotlight of the month shines upon Ralph Facciani, a brown haired, hazel eyed senior from Room 302.
RALPH FACCIANI
"Fudge," as he is commonly called, is a varsity quarterback. He can truly boast of remarkable passing ability. Although he is a Rambler letterman, he sat out his Junior year because of a leg injury. "Fudge's" chief hobby is "Sports in general" as he states it, with his chief baseball interest falling on the Yankees and Mickey Mantle.
Ralph’s favorite color is blue; he chooses solid geometry and Mr. Mease as his favorite subject and teacher. His ambition is to become a football coach.

Ten Lettermen Return To Roster
Ten lettermen are back this year to compete against the newcomers. They are:
Linemen-Fred Greene and Charles Baughman, senior, ends; Ed Hordubay, senior, tackle; Tom Kanas, Senior, guard, and Bill Keller, Senior, center. Backs Terry Fagan, Bob Hudy, and Bob Halcovich, all seniors, and Andy Hancharik and Eugene Miller, both Juniors.
Ralph Facciani, letterman in 1951, is a probable performer in the backfield this year. He missed the entire season last year due to an injury suffered prior to the opening game. He is a senior this season.

Windber Takes Win Over Shade
On Saturday, September 12, Windber beat Shade 28-12 to avenge last ,year's defeat of 26-24 in favor of shade Township.
Windber held the lead throughout the game, scoring in each of the four quarters. Wilk and Adams scored the touchdowns for Shade in the second and fourth quarters with one and 63-yard runs respectively.
Touchdowns for Windber were made by Hancharik, Hudy, Fagan, and Hajnos, while the extra points were made by Bob Dutzman of Windber. The longest run of the game was Bob Hudy's 78-yard run for a touchdown but it was called back because a teammate was detected clipping on the five-yard line.
Windber held the advantage in first downs, 16-6 and also in net yardage gained of 453 to Shade's 246 .yards. Shade completed more passes than Windber and the yardage gained in passing was 19 yards for Windber and 126 yards for Shade.
