HARRISBURG-The 1953 Associated Press All-Pennsylvania football team is pictured above. It was announced today following tabulation of ballots by coaches and sportswriters across the state. All schools in Pennsylvania are included in the balloting.

HARRISBURG (AP) - The 1953 All-Pennsylvania scholastic football squad selected by the Associated Press, in conjunction with coaches and sportswriters of the entire state:
E-John Watkins, York, 5' 11", 180
T-Bart Jankans, Reading, 6' 0", 165
G-Bob Gunther, Clairton, 6' 1", 185
C-Tom Connolly, West Scranton, 6' 2", 185
G-Bill Karch, Lock Haven, 5’ 11”, 170
T-Bill Walinchus, Mahanoy City 6’ 2”, 200
E-Charles Zawacki, Uniontown, 6” 2”, 165
B-Chester Gilchrist, Har-Brack, 6’ 2”, 210
B-Dick Christy, St. James, Chester, 5’ 9”, 175 B-Mel Laskoff, Erie East, 5’ 6”, 150
B-Gene Mikelonis, Du Bois, 5’ 11”, 160

Two Johnstown district-gridders were selected for third team positions and four others received honorable mention.
End Fred Green of Windber High School copped one of the third-team berths while center Joe Chuha of Johnstown High was named to the same unit.
Ed Hordubay, Windber tackle, who was named the outstanding lineman to perform in Windber Stadium this year, was the lone district lineman on the honorable mention listing. Backs Terry Fagan of Windber, Joe Slonac of Adams and Ron Rickens of Cresson were others voted honorable mention.
All, except Green, were members of The Tribune-Democrat's 1953 All-Scholastic team.
