Our Class Reunion
Every five years a reunion is
planned,
the announcements go out in the mail.
We look up the name, remember the
fames
and make plans to attend without
fail.
I'll never forget the first time we
met,
we tried so hard
to impress.
We drove fancy cars, smoked big
cigars
and wore our most elegant
dress.
It was quite the affair, the whole
class was there,
it was held in a hotel near town.
We wined and we dined, we acted
refined,
till the bar man said time to close
down.
The men all conversed about who had
been first,
to achieve great fortune and fame.
Meanwhile their spouses described
their fine houses,
and the lookers their children
became.
The football players who once had
been lean,
now weighed in at two-twenty six!
The jocks who were there, now lost
all their hair,
and the cheerleaders lost their high
kicks.
No one had heard about the class
nerd,
who helped guide a spacecraft to the
moon.
Or poor little Jane, who'd always
been plain,
but who married a high class tycoon.
The boy we declared "most apt to
succeed",
was far from what we expected.
And the one voted the "least" turned
into a priest,
and proved we were wrong as detected.
We awarded a prize to one of the
guys,
who seemed to have aged the least.
Another was given to the grad that
had driven,
the farthest to attend our grand
feast.
They took a class picture of our
curious mixture,
Of beehives and flat tops and ties.
We were tall, short, and skinny,
though no one wore "mini",
as we never were prone to show
thighs!
By our next get together, no one
cared whether,
they impresses their classmates or
not.
It was very informal, a whole lot
more normal
as by this time we'd all gone to
pot.
By the 50th reunion it was perfectly
clear
we were not feeling
"over the hill"
We laughed with old friends about all
the trends
and our kids who kept sending their
bills.
Now I can't wait,
August 22nd is the date
our 55th is finally here I'm told!
It should be a ball, we've rented the
hall
a pavilion for a picnic we'll hold.
Repairs have been made to our hearing
aids
and our pacemakers are turned up to
high.
Our wheelchairs are oiled, our canes
and walkers toiled
to survive a night on the fly.
We're feeling quite hearty, we're
ready to party
we'll talk to dawns early light.
It'll be lots of fun,
we're just hoping there's one
who can make it the entire
night!
If there's anything else that you'd
like to add
just write it all down for your
mates.
We need some addresses of those we
can't find
and we'd sure like it before it's too
late.
The years they fly by, so now
let's all try
to make sure we're together again.
No date had been set, but let us not
fret
As we'll always be willing and spry!
Thank you for Coming !!!!!
We'd like to extend our special
thanks to Kathy Facciani (Ralph's better half) for so warmly inviting us into
their home over these many months. We laughed and carried on as we were
all reminiscing over the many funny stories that were told. We had a
BLAST! It's a wonder we ever got anything accomplished!
